HAYDEN, Idaho — Kootenai County Deputies and SWAT arrested a man for aggravated assault, kidnapping, and battery on Wednesday afternoon.
At around 4:34 p.m. on Wednesday, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of domestic violence inside a home at N Neufeld Rd near Honeysuckle Avenue in Hayden.
Deputies arrived and contacted the victim who had escaped the home safely. The victim told deputies the suspect was 49-year-old Duke C. Huckabee of Sagle, Idaho.
Deputies investigated and discovered an aggravated assault occurred inside the home. The KCSO also says Huckabee had arrest warrants out of Bonner County for aggravated assault and second-degree kidnapping.
Deputies also learned there was an active no-contact order with the victim. Deputies attempted to call out Huckabee from the home without success.
The Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT Team was paged out to assist with the call, where they and deputies surrounded the home.
SWAT team members attempted to negotiate with the Huckabee for about an hour before they deployed a robot. SWAT deployed the robot through an open window and located Huckabee inside the home. Upon locating the suspect, Huckabee surrendered and was arrested without incident.
Huckabee was booked into Kootenai County Jail for his warrants, along with new charges including two counts of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and battery. This is Huckabee’s ninth time being booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building.
